Photo Diary: I Started My Own Company!

by Jessica

The first week of 2017 is over. Last week was full in sign of taking a new step and following my dream. In my 2016 article (clicke here) I was talking about starting my own photography business. In brief: 2016 wasn’t the right year to do it. Now it’s 2017 and I think it was time for a new start. I’m ready now. Just before New Years day I made an appointment at the KvK (Kamer van Koophandel, the place where you can start your company) in Rotterdam for January the 6th. Now I had to do it. 😉

Mirror selfie. This was my outfit.

I arrived in Rotterdam. I’m a hour to early, because you never know with the trains here. So, I’m walking through the city. It’s been a while since the last time I’ve been here. Normally I came here 4-5 days a week for my school. It was good to be back in Rotterdam.

It’s time!

I’m so happy! I finally started my own photography business. Jessica Vosman Photography is official. Click here for my Facebook page or take a look here for my complete portfolio.

In the Kunsthal was an exhibition of Peter Lindbergh till February the 12th. It was so awesome and inspiring to see his work! Really, if you have the time and you love fashion photography, visit this exhibition! Peter Lindbergh was different than other fashion photographers. He photographed the woman very natural and pure, like them self. In his time this was unusual. Models were very static and glamorous. He also doesn’t retouches his models. Now it’s so normal to retouche the models (extremely), when you open a fashion magazine.

I bought this photo book at the museum. It’s huge, but really inspiring and beautiful.

In the evening I celebrated the fact I have a photography business now. Sometimes you forget to make photos when you’re having fun, like now. I’m really glad I took this step. At the same time it’s also very tensive, because you don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ll make the best of it. I can’t wait!
